Week 38!

We had a doctors appointment as well as an ultrasound today. At the doctors office she had the results of my Group B strep test and they were negative so I was relieved at that. She wanted to know how I felt about being induced next week, as she thought it might be best to get Caile out soon.

She checked my cervix first and nothing has changed at all. So I did tell her that I was fine with being induced and she told me to call 1st thing Monday and we would set a date mid week. She will definitely be out by October 1st, just in time to make the school cut off date.

We then had our ultrasound and everything was great. I didn't have to make any more appointments for ultrasounds or appointments. We are very excited to know that a week from now Caile will be here!

    Week 37!

During the last week I have started to get some cramps but they are definitely not consistant. I assume from here they will be every day more and more until the end is here.

We had a doctors appointment yesterday and Caile is still head down so now the C Section is cancelled. I was very relieved to hear that. I also had my group b strep test to be sure that I do not have that particular bacteria in my cervix.

My doctor said that next week she will check my cervix if the cramping continues. She also will not allow me to go over the 40 week mark. So if I am approaching my due date than I will be induced before that time. I really think she will come on her own though.

We also had an ultrasound and everything was great. We were able to get a picture of well, half of her face. She keeps hiding behind her hand or her foot. I guess we will see her whole face soon enough!

    Week 36!

Well there is less than a month left now and we are getting very anxious to meet Caile. I had a doctors appointment this week and she determined that she is still head down. I am measuring accurately right now and my blood pressure is fine.

She still has the C Section booked for October 1st just in case Caile decides to do another flip. But for now things are looking good. I have not gained any weight in the last 6 weeks though, but she is gaining so that is all that matters.

We went for an ultrasound later that day and they confirmed that she was definitely head down. Her feet are bent on her chest so hopefully she will keep them away from her head for the next few weeks. They measured the bloodflow through the cord and took a look at her breathing activities and all was well.

Hopefully for next weeks ultrasound we will see her in the same position!

    Week 35!

Last week we had both a doctors appointment and an ultrasound. At the doctors appointment she confirmed that the section was still booked but we are not sure it is Oct 1st as it could be earlier. I had no gained any weight since my last visit and my blood pressure was fine.

At the ultrasound I was hoping her head was still down but she was frank breech again. She seems to want to move in a different direction every week.

This week we had another ultrasound and she was perfectly head down. I am not holding my breath but you never know she may just stay there. This is the first time since week 19 that she has not had her feet over her head. They are still up but bent at her chest. Guess we will find out what next week brings, hopefully still head down!

    Week 33!

Last week we went to our doctor appointment and everything went well. She was worried about Caile staying in the "frank breech" position so she scheduled us for a "section" on October 1st. I was a little disappointed that she had not turned but reading about breech babies it didn't surprise me a whole lot.

I was measuring right on track and I had gained 3 lbs from the week before. At this point I have gained around 29 lbs. My blood pressure was fine as well.

Today I went for our 33 week ultrasound where they measured both for growth and movement. I expected right off for her to be in the "frank breech" position but surprisingly enough she is what is called "transverse" which means she is diagnal. Her head is only a few inches away from being perfectly down.

After speaking with the doctor he was convinced that as long as she doesn't move back up, even if she is in "transverse" they can move her so that I can have a natural delivery. I was very happy to hear that.

He also measured her and at this point she weighs 4 lbs and 14 ounces. He said that she is actually larger than average right now, so she is a very healthy size baby. I knew the "smaller than average" theory wasn't going to last long with her.

She moved around a lot so she passed her movement test very quickly. We could not look at her face yet again because this time she was faced toward my back, which is what she should be doing at this stage. Her feet again were up over her head!

From this point forward I will be going every week for a "planning score" which is basically a movement test to be sure she is healthy.

    Week 31!

The last few weeks have really flown by and we are only a few weeks away from another ultrasound! I went to the doctor earlier this week and she said that Caile was still frank breech which means she is bum first with her feet up over her head. She gave me a couple of tricks to try to get her to flip and I am hoping she will soon as the room in there is shrinking. The bigger she gets there is less chance of her moving.

My weight was actually lower this week and I must have had a lot of fluid during my last visit because I had lost 8 lbs between visits. At this point I have gained 23 lbs in total so far which is not bad. I still feel very comfortable and I have no real backpain which is really nice!

My blood pressure and everything else checked out great. I am measuring where I should be for 31 weeks. We have our ultrasound in 2 weeks which will again be for size, but after that we will have weekly ultrasounds for movement, etc. I am very anxious to see how much she has grown in the past month!

    Week 29!

Today was a busy day as we had both a doctor's appointment and an ultrasound. I first went to my OBGYN and she noticed right away that the baby was not sideways anymore. She said that Caile was either butt up or down. I am measuring exact this week, so all is well.

I notice that I am retaining a lot more fluid now and I noticed my feet are starting to swell. Looks like I need to start the lemon water again. I gained 14 pounds since my last visit.

Daddy, I and Aunt Tif all went to the ultrasound and everything went really well. Right now Caile weighs 2lbs 13 ounces and is butt down! But there is still lots of time for her to do a flip. I asked if she was a normal weight and according to their stats at the Grace 30 Percent of babies measured at this stage weigh less than Caile and 70 Percent of babies weigh more. So she is not a huge baby so far which makes me happy and she is not underweight either!

Caile had her feet above her head once again so she made it very hard to see her face. In between the legs we could see some big full lips peaking out at us though! The doctor was very good at moving her a little so that we could at least get a snap shot! We go back for another ultrasound in 3 weeks and from that point on we will be going for an ultrasound every week until Caile is born!

    Week 27!

Well we had a doctor's appointment today and everything is going very well. She was impressed that our little girl is very active. At the time of the visit she said her head was over to my right side, but I am sure by now that has changed. I feel like most of the time she has her own circus going on in there.

My doctor did say that my iron was very low, but they will not check it again now as long as i stay on the iron. So i have to keep up the 300 mg a day for the next while.

My blood pressure was very good and my diabetes test came back ok. During the last month I gained 7 pounds so I am still right on track. Only 14 pounds gained so far this time around. From this point on I will be having doctor's appointments every 2 weeks for the next month or so. We also have our ultrasound in 2 weeks time. Can't wait to see our little pumpkin again! ;o)

    Week 25!

The last few weeks have definitely gone by quickly. Starting a few weeks back I began getting heart palpitations and so I made an appointment with my family doctor since I did not believe that it would be pregnancy related. This week I went to go have my diabetes test done on Monday so I made the appointment with him the same day. He said they could be a number of things so he arranged for blood work as well as an EKG.

I went to go get my diabetes test done at the IWK. I dread this because the orange pop like stuff they give you to drink is so nasty. I am not a fan of orange pop to begin with let alone without sugar and forcing it down in minutes. I finished my blood work there and went on with my week. I went for the EKG and more blood work and of course the EKG came back normal. They only stick those wires to you for a few minutes so I am not sure how they ever find anything anyways.

I came to work and had a call from my OBGYN. She had received the diabetes test results and although I am clear there, my blood has really dropped and I am extremely low in iron. I spoke to her about the palpitations and she said they can definitely be links. So now I have to take 3 tablets a day of the max mg of iron for the next couple of weeks until I see her!

Other than that my few weeks have been very quiet ;o) I am getting increasing heartburn, but luckily milk does solve that problem and my back is starting to bother me. I am sure both will just get worse as I gain more weight, but so far so good!

    Week 23!

It is amazing how the time has just flown by. My belly is definitely growing and so is she. She loves to kick and spill and move in any way she can. Lately I have been finding that she enjoys kicking my bladder. Not a very nice feeling.

I went to my OBGYN yesterday and everything is going well. All ultrasound results looked great and she was excited as well that we know she is a girl. I have only gained 9 pounds in total though, but all is fine as I must just be using my leftover weight from last time.

She is now measuing the length of my belly. The rule is that length of your uterus should measure in centimeters how many weeks you are. Currently I am measuring 23 cm so all is on track.

My dr also gave me the paper work for my diabetes testing, so sometime in the next month I get to go to the IWK and drink that lovely orange stale pop. Should be fun. Thanks to those of you that have been submitting names, we are still in negotiations though! ;o)

    Week 21!

Well I have made it over the half way point and things are still progressing quickly. I have noticed my belly is popping a lot more now. I find it hard to bend since I can feel the baby there.

She loves to move so much. I still can't get over how many times a day I feel the kicks. Very strong and I can also feel her turning and rolling alot. I am not sure what she will do when things start to get more tight in there.

We are now on the search for the perfect name. I feel bad that we know she is a girl and have not yet named her. So any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Just click on the "Name the Baby" tab to help us out!

We head to the dr in 2 weeks and at that point I should have gained more weight and I will also have to go for my diabetes test. Right now I have a cold that will not go away. It is very frustrating when you cannot take anything to help you get well. Hopefully by the next update I won't be sniffing anymore! ;o)

    Week 19!

Well this is the long awaited entry that we have all been waiting for. We started this day with a doctor's appointment with the OBGYN. I was weighed and so far have only gained 3 lbs. She was happy with that and I am sure I will make up for it in the end. :o) We were able to listen to the heartbeat and it was good and strong.

I had my maternal serum test done a few weeks back, but she said the results would be at the IWK when I went since they ordered the test for me. We had our ultrasound next so we headed to the IWK.

We had the same two doctors as last time which was very conforting. The first doctor was able to go over the baby in great detail. She showed us all of the little organs and limbs. Everything looked great and the measurements lined up completely with my due date! She was pretty sure of the sex but wanted to wait for the main doctor to have a look.

The next doctor came and went over everything again in great detail. He was very happy with everything so far, but wants us to return in another 10 weeks just for reassurance. He also checked my cervix to be sure everything looked there and the ultrasound showed that fine.

So now the moment that you have been waiting for. He took a second look between the legs. The baby helped out quite a bit since it actually had its legs up over its head. Quite the acrobat. And yes for those of you who guessed boy... well you were wrong! :o) We are having a girl!

    Week 17!

The past few weeks have passed by so quickly and it is hard to believe that in one week we get to find out the sex of the baby. We are very excited to receive the news!

The baby is definitely very active! I cannot believe how strong the kicks are already. Last night the baby woke me up kicking very strong. I counted about 40 kicks before I gave up counting. I cannot get over the activity, I dont think this baby ever sleeps ;o)

I went for my Material Serum test today which will basically give me a ratio of the chances of our child having a chromosome disease. It is a basic blood test that gives us the result.

They also weighed me today and I have gained 4 lbs, so that basically puts me 2 lbs above my original weight. So I am not gaining too quickly which is nice! Will have more updates next week after the ultrasound and dr visit!

    Week 15!

Well I have now entered my second trimester and although the sickness has improved, it is still there somewhat. It appears that if I get overtired then I am sick in the morning. I am definitely a lot more tired this pregnancy and it seems that 8 hours a night is simply not enough sleep for me anymore.

We had our check up today at the OBGYN and everything is progressing along. She stated that I have popped already and I do notice my belly sticking out a lot more. I was weighed and have lost 2 pounds but apparently that is still ok for this stage. My blood pressure is where it should be so everything is fine there.

She brought in a more powerful doppler this morning to hear the heartbeat since she could not last time. At first she was looking really low and still could not find it. Then she realized I was carrying really high, even more so than last time. So she was able to find it and it sounded very clear.

I have been able to feel the baby move already but at this stage it is not big kicks. I get a lot of waves throughout the day and this baby is definitely very active. Our 19 week ultrasound is in 4 weeks and she did tell me we would definitely be able to find out the sex if we so wish. So I am very anxious!

    Week 13!

We had a busy day today as it was the first visit to our OBGYN. We went in and of course I had to do the ritual, pee in the cup and then get weighed. I have not gained any weight yet, but I know my waistline is expanding. We met with Dr. Delisle and she went through the series of first visit questions, basically getting info on our family history. She was extremely excited that we already had our ultrasound booked for later that day. Next was the heart beat!

I must say I definitely paniked at this stage. I had read in my books that it is harder to find at this point with a second child, but it is still difficult to handle. She could not find it. She searched for about 2 minutes and said the baby must be down really low and not to worry. I kept remembering back to my first visit with her last time when she found it within 5 seconds, but I took her word.

Our ultrasound appointment was in the afternoon so we headed over early. We went to the 7th floor and had a bit of a wait before going in. We had an initial doctor go through it at first and then the specialist doctor. They both were amazing and said that at this point everything looks great.

They took a measurement of the back of the neck which predicts the chance of the baby have downs syndrome. Apparently due to this measurement we have a 1 in 8000 chance so we are relieved at that. I will still be taking the material sterum test in a few weeks just to be sure.

I think we were both very surprised at how much we could see at this stage of the pregnancy. The baby was sucking its thumb and moving like crazy. The doctor said it was hard to do measurements on a baby that moves so much, but that it was a good thing. My placenta is in the right spot and not blocking the birth canal so all is great at this stage.

They decided to book our 19 week ultrasound at the same spot, so in May we should be able to find the sex of our baby! We are both very anxious to learn. Guessing is no fun! They also let us take away a picture which we have under "Special Surprises". That's it for now... will keep you posted on the next stage!

    Week 10!

My first entry and so much to say already. Well I discovered that I was pregnant at the 5 week mark. We scheduled a doctor's appointment and had our first visit. This was our family doctor. He set up a referal to my baby doctor and gave me the paperwork for my first blood work.

Is this pregnancy any different than before? YES! Very much so! I have to say that I never thought I would ever get morning sickness. I thought for sure I was blessed with my mothers gift of not getting sick. Boy was I wrong. I think I am sick at least every other day. Actually throwing up, but I guess the good thing is that it is always before I eat, not after. Very strange and I hope it passes soon.

The blood work is all done now and my family doctor said that everything looked good! He took my bloodpressure and all was well there too. We now have an appointment for our 1st ultrasound. It will be at the 12 week mark and we are very excited!

Well that is it for now. Hopefully the next entry will mean less sickness and a calmer stomach :o)
